HELLO, FRANKLIN

We chose Franklin for our family based on the great public schools. As a neuroscientist, a university lecturer, and a scholar of teaching and learning, I will bring a unique perspective to the Franklin School Committee, with the goal of making our schools truly excellent. My proven, evidenced-based approach to leadership focuses on listening to all parties, synthesizing input, and arriving at mutually agreeable solutions.

A CHAMPION FOR OUR CHILDREN

I work hard each day to create the best possible learning environment for students in my classrooms. I would love the opportunity to bring my experience and dedication to the school committee so our teachers can create the best learning environments for the children of Franklin.

SETTING THE STAGE FOR LEARNING

The core idea of Monica's teaching philosophy is to create the best possible learning environment for her students. She has learned a lot as she's worked towards this goal in her classrooms, trying out a variety of ideas, engaging in evidenced-based practices, participating in professional development in areas like diversity and inclusion, and through her experiences on committees including campus life and academic technology. As she works toward this goal every day in her classroom, she will work toward this goal every day for the Franklin students.

LOVING FRANKLIN

Monica and her husband chose Franklin to raise their family. As a parent in the Franklin school system, Monica is committed to excellence for the Franklin schools.

BRINGING EXPERIENCE TO THE TABLE

Monica is an award-winning, front-line educator at Brown University. She has nearly a decade and a half of experience teaching neuroscience in the University setting. As an expert in both the neurobiology of learning and a researcher of student learning, Monica is uniquely qualified for Franklin's School Committee.

CARRYING THE BANNER

Monica engages in local outreach in schools in both Franklin and Medway. She is a champion for the sciences and science education. As an Early Career Policy Ambassador for the Society for Neuroscience, Monica has advocated for science and science education funding on Capitol Hill.
